The 1989 Montreal Protocol is an
agreement among most
industrialized nations to reduce
the release of ozone-destroying
chlorofluorocarbons into the
atmosphere. R-12 is scheduled to
phase out by 2008. HFC-134a is
well known as the best
environmental substitute for
CFC-12 in the world on the
account of its excellent
physical and chemical
performance, such as extremly
low-toxic, achromaticity,
insipidity, incombustible and
non-flammable and non-explosive.
It has been widely used as
refrigerant in HVAC, auto
air-condition, industry
refrigeration, and also been
used as propellant, anti-burning
and blowing agent in the
medicine, pesticide, cosmetics
and cleaning agent. HFC-134a has
been widely accepted around the
